The Team

Sleeping Giant Games is a small and dedicated startup development team working on an innovative real-time strategy game. We strive to put our minds and creativity to the test as we build and iterate based on themed approaches to game design.

Most of the team is in the United States, but as a whole our team works remotely. If you are interested in joining our team check out the applications below:

Open Positions

General Programmer

Location:
Remote

Join the core team as we work to develop the minimal viable product. You’ll help us create a workable demo and tease-able footage. Once this is accomplished the team will discuss a monetization options as well as form the LLC and sign new contracts and NDAs. Until then all positions are on a volunteer basis only. Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with other programmers, sound designers, artists, and the game design team.
  • Complete various programming tasks assigned by the lead engineer.
  • Use initiative to find time saving and performance friendly solutions to implementing game features.
  • Maintain steady contact with the programming team, your team lead, and the project manager.

Requirements:

  • Ability to program in C#.
  • Experience working in the unity game engine.
  • Ability to iterate functional UI.
  • Familiarity with developing AI.

Preferred Skills:

  • Multiplayer development experience.
  • Experience working with node based scriptable objects.
  • Working knowledge of how to use an SVN and FTP.
  • Familiarity with game design documents.
  • Working knowledge of google drive and trello.
  • Experience using discord.

3D Modeler and Animator

Location:
Remote

Join the core team as we work to develop the minimal viable product. You’ll help us create a workable demo and tease-able footage. Responsibilities:

  • Design and sculpt 3D buildings and 3D humanoid models.
  • Coordinate with other artists, level designers, programmers, sound designers, and game designers.
  • Rig and animate 3D models.
  • Determine what textures, assets, and animations are to be made in-house or purchased.
  • Maintain steady contact with the 3D art team, your team lead, and the project manager.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of how to create texture atlases.
  • Experience modeling buildings, foliage, and character models.
  • Familiarity with Blender, Zbrush, 3ds Max, Maya or similar software.
  • Experience rigging humanoid models.
  • Experience working in the unity game engine.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to create PBR textures using the Substance suite of programs.
  • Working knowledge of google drive and trello.
  • Familiarity with game design documents.
  • Working knowledge of how to use an SVN and FTP.
  • Experience using discord.

Concept Artist and Illustrator

Location:

  • Design and illustrate buildings, foliage, characters, weapons, and environments.
  • Coordinate with other artists, level designers, programmers, sound designers, and game designers.
  • Work in tandem with the marketing team to develop promotional material.
  • Maintain steady contact with the 3D art team, your team lead, and the project manager.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of how to create spec sheets.
  • Experience drawing buildings, foliage, and character models.
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, Illustrator or similar software.
  • Possess a high attention to detail and period representation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to draw and replicate medieval manuscript style art.
  • Working knowledge of google drive and trello.
  • Familiarity with game design documents.
  • Working knowledge of how to use an FTP.
  • Experience using discord.

Material Artist

  • Experience creating hard surface and environmental materials.
  • Ability to stick within clear art directions.
  • Working knowledge of creating entirely procedural materials.
  • Possess a high attention to detail and self-drive.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to model and import fbx files for use as nodes in substance materials.
  • Working knowledge of google drive and trello.
  • Familiarity with game design documents.
  • Working knowledge of how to use an FTP.
  • Experience using discord.
